HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

The Buyer procures products and services required to ensure efficient production, at the best price, quality, and delivery. To develop new suppliers to maintain a competitive supply chain.

 

THE DETAILS:

  • Procurement & POs: Process purchase orders via KANBAN, MRP, VMI, and requisitions; manage vendor communications, pricing issues, and past due follow-ups
  • Returns & Shipping: Handle return requests, negotiate credits/replacements, and prepare outbound shipping documents
  • Supplier Management: Source alternatives, lead cost-reduction projects, negotiate contracts, and conduct supplier reviews
  • System & Data Maintenance: Maintain ordering systems, material master data, contracts, and supplier records
  • Expediting & Compliance: Coordinate rush shipments and manage customs export reporting
  • Service Provider Oversight: Manage service vendors like Cintas and Grand & Toy; adjust inventory levels and oversee restocking and returns
  • Training & Support: Guide team members in using ordering systems and CMA database; train new buyers and maintain a tribal knowledge training manual
  • Team Support: Maintain supplier contact database and oversee employee snack inventory and service

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • High School Diploma required. College Diploma with a focus in Business or Supply Chain preferred. PMAC certification preferred; CPSM, CSCP, and Certified Customs Specialist certifications are considered assets. Negotiation training is also beneficial
  • 3 - 5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
  • Proficient in SAP/ERP systems, Microsoft Word & Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and internet research
  • Strong technical and mathematical aptitude
  • Demonstrates continuous learning, adaptability, customer focus, and strong team collaboration
  • Effective verbal and written communicator with attention to detail and urgency
  • Skilled in multitasking, problem-solving, and handling confidential data
