THE DETAILS:

Process Development/Improvement

  • Apply a variety of prescribed practices and techniques to conduct analysis of cost reduction and quality improvements of limited scop
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements or change and make recommendations
  • Provide presentations and/or reports for purpose of updating both management and engineering personnel
  • Design and implement appropriate tests and/or designed experiments as required
  • Provide project matrix for assigned areas (quarterly updates)

Process Support

  • Provides support to the production supervision, floor, and maintenance personnel to evaluate, comprehend and solve production and process related problems.
  • Support process availability and reliability
  • Review and update production capacity planning of assigned area, provide report for capacity planning based on production forecast updates
  • Provide annual review of labour rates for standard costing
  • Ensure process, equipment and documentation in the responsible area enables the operator to produce a quality part.
  • Provide annual review of major repair plans for equipment in assigned areas
  • Engineering Change Notice
  • Ensure specified improvements and consequences are evaluated to determine process impact.
  • Initiate appropriate action as required.

Project Management

  • Provide project leadership.
  • Complete all necessary tasks to complete projects (capital & expense) on schedule and within specified budget. Including:
  • Project plan development,
  • Selection of equipment or process
  • Scope & activity definition
  • Resource planning & cost estimating
  • Risk management – identify risk factors and countermeasures
  • Project tracking, manage change, design reviews
  • Oversee equipment installation and testing
  • Identify training needs
  • Equipment capability studies
  • Design verification and maintain project records
  • Identify lessons learned during the project
  • Use project management skills to prepare project charter, work as a team and develop the project plan.  

Process Documentation

  • Responsible for technical content of process documentation. 
  • Review and approve controlled documentation for manufacturing processes pertaining to specified areas of responsibility.

Environmental, Health & Safety

  • Ensure due diligence in health and safety, environmental and ergonomic practices.  Engineer safety, ergonomics, and environmental protection into processes.
  • Audit and implement corrective actions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing Engineer Technologist diploma or equivalent
  • Certification of Professional Engineer an asset
  • Previous experience with automation an asset
  • Three (3) to six (6) years experience
  • Meets performance expectations
  • Maintains regular attendance at work
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office products including project management software and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of CAD
  • Working knowledge of CNC programming as required by product line
  • Proficient in statistical process control and capability
  • Blueprinting reading skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Project management skills
  • Demonstrated skills in continuous learning, flexibility, customer focus, quality commitment and good relationships with coworkers, customers and community are required.
  • Must be aware of and respect the confidential nature of information and data that is processed
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates initiative, creativity, and effectiveness in dealing with others
