HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT:

The Tool & Die Maker builds new, rebuilds or maintains existing tooling, equipment, gauges, and fixtures to support divisional needs and requirements to ensure high quality products and service for our customers.

 

THE DETAILS:

  • Repair, build, rebuild, or overhaul all types of production dies and tooling
  • Use blueprints, drawings, and specifications to fabricate dies, tools, and assemblies
  • Set up, operate, and maintain conventional and CNC machine tools, including Wire and Sink EDM machines
  • Fit and assemble parts, and repair or modify gauges, jigs, and dies using hand and machine tools
  • Inspect and verify machined parts using precision measuring instruments (Verniers, Calipers, Micrometers, etc.)
  • Create and maintain SAP records for die/equipment builds and maintenance
  • Read, interpret, and update engineering drawings and quality records
  • Manage tooling projects, coordinate scheduling, and identify parts requiring vendor services
  • Participate in team activities, communicate with internal customers, and resolve issues to minimize downtime

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completed Tool & Die Apprenticeship and Certificate of Qualification
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Tool & Die Maker is an asset
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and precision machining/grinding experience
  • Ability to work to tight tolerances (+/- 0.0002”)
  • Experience grinding carbide (an asset) and hardened tool steel die components
  • Good understanding of the blanking process
  • Intermediate computer skills; CNC experience is an asset
  • Strong problem-solving, planning, and prioritizing abilities
  • Excellent communication skills; able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, continuous learning, and flexibility
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed

 

AVAILABILITY: 

Must be able to work a rotating schedule, 1 week afternoons (M- Th), followed by 3 weeks of days (M-Th) - subject to change, flexibility is critical across the team
