BUSINESS PURPOSE: 

The Quality Manager will implement, maintain, and continuously improve the company’s quality tools, techniques, and systems. 

 

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

Quality

  • Improve and maintain the quality management system, process, and techniques
  • Drive continual improvement through data collection and analysis, project selection, corrective and preventative actions, documenting processes and changes and educating affected personnel
  • Assure internal and external requirements are met within the framework of our ISO 9001QMS system
  • Maintain and ensure adherence to Engineering Change Request process
  • Prepare management level presentations and quality indicator reports
  • Lead quality training
  • Lead problem solving teams
  • Consultation on quality tools, quality software, and quality systems

 

Quality Inspection    

  • Plan and direct quality activities for incoming, in process, outgoing and new product development
  • Ensure nonconforming product is documented on a “real time” basis and issues are communicated in a timely matter to drive for resolution
  • Document processes and techniques and make changes to them through the document control system
  • Ensure quality practices are in compliance within controlled documentation
  • Ensure quality records are orderly and accessible

 

Problem Solving/Continuous Improvement       

  • Troubleshoot quality control processes
  • Perform root cause analysis and analyze different alternatives for implementation
  • Evaluate implementation effectiveness

 

Supervision and Training

  • Supervise quality team members on all three shifts
  • Select and train employees to meet cost, quality, delivery, safety, and environmental standards
  • Provide coaching, counseling and career development
  • Assess individual and team performance, give feedback
  • Train new and existing employees on standard work procedures and production processes

 

Communication, Documentation, and Team Work

  • Act as a conduit being Quality and other company personnel treat them as “internal customers” to solve work-related problems. 
  • Write monthly reports, technical reports, status reports, and AR.
  • Interact with internal and external customers to verify priorities, customer information, order accuracy, etc.
  • Lead team meetings at every shift to discuss production plan and previous shift issues
  • Communicate information on recurring issues, project status to operators, supervisors, engineers and upper management
  • Attend team/shift meetings
  • Advise and mentor coworkers (safety, quality, tasks)

 

EDUCATION:

  • Degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • 3-5 years of experience in one or more related engineering areas such as industrial, production, reliability, or design
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working in manufacturing environment

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Skilled in Advanced Quality tools such as Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Control Plans, Gage R&R Studies, GD&T, SPC, Root Cause Analysis, and Mistake Proofing/Poke-a-yoke
  • Knowledge of quality standards and ISO requirements and procedures 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in leading an organization through ISO audit process (surveillance and re-certification)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and utilization of material / part conformance
  • Ability to identify problems or technical issues and apply sound judgment
  • Solid mechanical/engineering and process engineering knowledge, able to partner in business negotiations for quality-related pricing, commercial terms and conditions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in solving problems
  • Proactive ability to take initiative in suggesting process improvements
  • Ability to be accurate and detail-oriented and follow through assignments to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep current with continuously changing technologies related to safety, machinery and equipment, assembly related tools and testing equipment

 

SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data management software (SAP preferred)
  • Excellent project management skills and effective team player
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written, as well as public presentation skills, with the ability to be proactive and clearly present recommendations and ideas and to summarize complex issues to those unfamiliar with the subject matter or process; communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization and express oneself clearly and in technical and non-technical terms
  • Demonstrated skill at developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships
  • Highly organized self-starter; self-motivated, results driven and goal oriented with customer focus and measured sense of urgency; able to translate specific goals into action and follow through to achieve goals; take initiative, seek and act on opportunities to improve organization performance; demonstrate self-reliance in ability to deal with internal and external customers
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to solve complex problems and use good judgment; solve problems analytically; search out relevant information and gauge its importance when making decisions
  • Technical and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly regulated environment
  • Understanding of key product development processes within a large manufacturing organization
  • Ability to work effectively at all organizational levels
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment with multiple disciplines
  • Demonstrated commitment to accuracy and analysis of detailed information
  • Able to complete responsibilities in a timely, professional and quality manner
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing work priorities
  • Ability to work in a diverse cultural environment as a collaborative and effective team player and able to work with globally dispersed teams
  • Demonstrate ability and willingness to learn; seek out development activities to improve skills and increase knowledge; learn from other team members and own mistakes
