HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
The Supply Chain Quality Engineer I plans and leads activities concerning quality planning and quality assurance of manufacturing processes, design qualification, materials, sourced products and projects. Key responsibilities include applying engineering disciplines to support design, development, implementation and operation activities; evaluating and improving processes for product development, testing and production; assessing vendors and assisting in their development of components, assemblies, etc. In addition, this role leads audits, process capability studies and validates quality assurance tool competencies. This position works closely with suppliers and business units to create, enact and monitor necessary ongoing audit, testing and inspection data to assure that ongoing production meets Oregon Tool’s business unit requirements
THE DETAILS
- Lead supplier and part qualification activities, including onsite QMS and EHS&S supplier assessments and PPAP approvals, ensuring products meet quality, safety, and compliance standards.
- Partner with Engineering and cross‑functional teams to develop test plans, support design reviews, and enforce quality rigor throughout product development.
- Drive supplier quality sustainment by reducing Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ), managing MRB activities, and leading corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives by enhancing quality processes, supporting supplier scorecards and certifications, and leading special quality projects.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with experience in supplier quality, manufacturing, or quality engineering within consumer products or industrial environments.
- Strong working knowledge of quality tools and methodologies, including PFMEA, SPC, Gauge R&R, process capability analysis, and CAPA; Lean or Six Sigma experience preferred.
- Hands‑on experience with ISO 9001 / TS‑16949 quality systems; Quality Engineer or ASQ certification and Lead Auditor experience preferred.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across globally dispersed teams and drive results using data‑driven decision making.
AVAILABILITY
This will be a hybrid position with 3 to 4 days onsite at our Kansas City Distribution Center.
At Oregon Tool, we provide a reasonable, good-faith estimate of the compensation range for this role of $75,000 - $95,000. Final offers are based on various factors such as experience, skills, qualifications and internal equity. This range may vary based on geographic location where the position is filled, and most new hires are not typically hired at the top of the range.
