HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

As an Automation Controls Engineer, you will blend your technical background with expertise to address challenges in the development and lifecycle management of manufacturing equipment and technology projects. As a successful candidate within this role, you will design, develop, and implement control systems, elevating the efficiency and functionality of Oregon Tool's automated processes. 

 

THE DETAILS

  • Design and development of effective controls systems to support global manufacturing processes. 
  • Collaborate, develop, and implement solutions that advance our manufacturing technology.
  • Communicate with project and production team members.
  • Define, maintain, and meet project schedules.
  • Investigate and propose applications of proven manufacturing technologies to new and existing manufacturing processes.
  • Develop solutions to complex systems using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), machine vision systems, sensors, motion control devices, robots, etc.
  • Demonstrate initiative and challenge status quo to improve manufacturing technology
  • Follow and maintain department engineering standards.
  • Complete technical documentation to support the operation and maintenance teams for new and/or modified equipment.
  • Actively engage with suppliers, system integrators, and internal customers
  • Understand the use of quality systems to advance equipment designs and process improvements

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Controls Systems, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
  • 2-4 years’ minimum experience in the following:
    • Equipment design for an industrial, high-volume production environment
    • Programming system PLCs, safety PLCs, or HMIs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
    • Selecting and integrating appropriate circuit protectors, wiring and cabling, sensors, hardware (PLC, HMI, safety, remote I/O, etc.), motors and drives, motion controllers, etc. into a custom-designed manufacturing cel
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Creative and logical thinker
  • Demonstrate ability and willingness to learn
  • Broad understanding of closed loop controls, instrumentation, process control systems, panel design, safety codes and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and data management software (SAP preferred)

The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Oregon Tool, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $71,800 - $111,900
