HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
The Corporate Accountant assists in various accounting and recordkeeping duties and in the preparation and distribution of financial statements in an accurate and timely manner. This role prepares reconciliations for monthly general ledger close, analyses of accounts and other accounting matters, drafts memorandums and other documentation explaining Oregon Tool’s accounting treatment and various positions under US GAAP and prepares journal entries. This position also assists with the preparation of management reports and internal and external financial statements. This position is also expected to provide assistance with external and internal audit examinations, maintain accurate and complete files in compliance with control procedures, and assist with accounting related projects and other special projects assigned by management, including internal control, process control and system and process improvement projects.
DUTIES
- Perform core corporate accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, fixed asset accounting, account reconciliations, balance analysis, and preparation of adjusting journal entries to support accurate and timely month‑end and period close.
- Support financial reporting and compliance, including preparation of schedules for internal management and external reporting, maintaining audit‑ready books and records, and responding to internal and external audit requests.
- Ensure strong internal controls and documentation, maintaining appropriate supporting documentation, evidence of control effectiveness, required approvals, and up‑to‑date process and work instruction documentation.
- Drive efficiency, collaboration, and continuous improvement by leveraging technology to streamline processes, meeting accounting calendar deadlines, participating in cross‑training for backup coverage, and maintaining clear, open communication through both formal and informal documentation.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Education & Accounting Basics: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; entry‑level candidates welcome, with some hands‑on accounting experience (internships or early‑career roles) preferred.
- Foundational Technical Skills: Basic understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial statements; experience using accounting or financial systems a plus; proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required (SAP or ERP exposure is a bonus).
- Analytical & Organizational Abilities: Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization; ability to analyze information, solve problems, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Professional & Team Skills: Clear written and verbal communication skills; positive, team‑oriented attitude with the ability to work independently with guidance; eager to learn, take initiative, act with integrity, and support continuous improvement; available to work on‑site as required and travel occasionally.
At Oregon Tool, we provide a reasonable, good-faith estimate of the compensation range for this role of $60,000.00 - $65,000.00. Final offers are based on various factors such as experience, skills, qualifications and internal equity. This range may vary based on geographic location where the position is filled, and most new hires are not typically hired at the top of the range.
