This position will support the Manager of Planning and Analysis in developing advanced analyses for the organization that provide critical information to senior management supporting informed strategic and operating decision making and to facilitate communications with the Board of Directors and external constituencies.


Other analysis in support of key company initiatives and departmental leaders on an ad hoc basis is also required.  This position will interface directly with various levels of business personnel throughout the organization and may represent the department in key presentations and/or strategic planning meetings. This position will, on occasion, fill in as the Manager of Planning.


This position is currently remote, but will have a hybrid work schedule in the near future at our headquarters in Portland, OR!


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis and Reporting

  • Lead in the reporting and analysis of financial and operating metrics
  • Provide analytical, quantitative, and financial cost modeling assistance in support of Company objectives in the areas of decision support, and historical analysis
  • Develop and deliver pro-active and insightful analysis of a variety of past results to operating management in a timely manner
  • Prepare internal financial reports and presentations for meetings with senior management and the Board of Directors
  • Evaluate business problems and challenges and provide potential solutions
  • Communicate results clearly in both verbal and written formats
  • Present financial reporting and results to executive audiences


Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Provide leadership for annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, with a focus on process improvement and automation
  • Perform extensive financial modeling in support of financial planning goals and responsibilities as well as support for other functional areas
  • Prepare budgeting, forecasting, cash flow projections, and financial analysis reports in the context of annual and quarterly forecasting
  • Work extensively with domestic and international management to develop forecasts and analysis, and further enhance operating company financial analysis and controls


Capital Spending Analysis and Leadership

  • Support evaluation of capital projects
  • Act in place of Planning and Analysis Manager as needed
  • Provide leadership and direction to other department staff members
  • Support Investor Relations, Credit and Treasury functions as needed
  • Special projects as assigned


Communication and Documentation

  • Maintain open communication through conversation and both formal and informal documents


Education: High school diploma required

  • BS/BA – Accounting or Finance is required
  • CPA or MBA preferred 


Knowledge & Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of accounting analysis/finance experience preferably in a manufacturing environment, a strong accounting background (public accounting experience is preferred), and will be able to use this fundamental knowledge to analyze and interpret financial results to add value and give recommendations to senior management. Experience with foreign exchange a plus
  • Candidate must be willing to dig into the numbers, assist in ad hoc projects as needed, take leadership and ownership of projects and processes, and explore new areas to improve financial results
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently achieve progressive levels of responsibility and personal accountability
  • Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles


  • Superb written and oral communication
  • Ability to articulate financial concepts to non-finance business partners in a clear and concise manner
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Advanced SAP experience, including proficiency with leveraging SAP tools
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • High degree of accuracy and commitment to quality
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Able to complete responsibilities in a timely, professional and quality manner
