Hourly Rate: $26/HR- $28/HR

HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT: 

As a Product Test Technician, within the Performance Analysis Laboratory (PAL), which is part of the Engineering Development Labs, you will execute tests on products, prototypes and/or competitive products to evaluate their performance, reliability, and safety attributes.  Apply existing tests on custom equipment to satisfy the needs of engineering, quality, manufacturing, and marketing.  Testing will include handheld operation of chainsaws (gas and battery) and concrete/ductile iron cutting chainsaws.  Testing will require the operation of a forklift in close quarters to move test media and equipment. Maintain laboratory equipment and facilities.  Assist in conducting tours, demonstrations, and training.

 

THE DETAILS:

  • Operate a handheld forestry or concrete cutting chainsaw throughout a test
  • Operate custom lab equipment (tools and fixtures) per documented procedures
  • Collect, interpret, understand, and relate data for cutting speed, torque and power curves, safety, and efficiency
  • Write test reports, submit for peer review
  • Review incoming work with requesting customer and provide updates through the duration of the test
  • Aid in troubleshooting performance problems
  • Support & participates in safety & environmental initiatives
  • Maintain test machinery and equipment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in mechanical equipment, electronics, and PC computers, and some experimental design skills
  • Able to complete responsibilities in a timely, professional, and quality-focused manner
  • Solve problems analytically; search out relevant information and gauge its importance when making decisions
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in appropriate terms for the target audience
  • Creative and logical thinker
  • Collaborative and effective team player able to work with a global team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and data management software (SAP preferred)
  • You do not need to possess 100% of these qualities to be considered
  • Must be available to work onsite as required by job
