HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

As a Senior Advanced Development Engineer, you will develop expertise in our end users to generate new product innovation and architectures and drive new technology development. Your deep understanding of end users and product applications will allow you to form partnerships with OEM technical teams and enable collaborative system-level product development. This customer-centric mindset and front-end innovation approach will create competitive advantage and long-term category growth.

 

THE DETAILS

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison with OEM engineering leaders, actively establishing strong working relationships to foster collaboration in product development.

  • Become an expert in the end users and applications of our products via field visits, hands-on product usage, and other VOC mechanisms.

  • Partner with product management to create product strategies, roadmaps, and annual objectives, ensuring alignment with business goals.

  • Develop and propose innovative product architectures and solutions, incorporating customer needs, manufacturability (DFM), and business objectives.

  • Lead rapid prototyping cycles, including testing and data collection, to accelerate technical decision-making processes.

  • Lead critical analyses such as statistical, risk, and competitive product evaluations, delivering actionable insights to improve product and project performance.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering required, with a focus on design or mechanical engineering preferred.

  • Experience: 7+ years in product design engineering with a proven track record of leading product development projects from concept to launch; experience in designing metal components for high-volume manufacturing is highly valued; experience in developing roadmaps and technical strategies is highly valued.

  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in 3D modeling and 2D drafting (SolidWorks preferred), geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GDT), and statistical analysis.

  • Problem-Solving & Communication: Exceptional problem-solving skills for complex systems, strong written and oral communication abilities, and effective at fostering collaboration with globally dispersed teams and OEM customers.

  • Professional Attributes: Demonstrates adaptability, creativity, business acumen, and strong project management capabilities while maintaining professionalism and personal integrity across all levels of interaction.

 

AVAILABILITY

Available to work on site as required by job; eligible for domestic and international travel several times per year up to two weeks’ duration.

 

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Washington, Colorado, Nevada, California, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, Oregon Tool is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Oregon Tool, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $100,000 to $150,000.
