HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT:

As part of Oregon Tool’s shared Information Technology Services, the Systems & Network Engineer serves as a technical subject matter expert across enterprise networking, computing, server, storage, and cloud infrastructure. This role supports the design, implementation, and maintenance of global IT infrastructure, with a primary focus on enterprise network architecture, connectivity, security, and performance. The incumbent will also provide advanced support and guidance for servers, virtualization, storage, and business continuity processes. This position requires deep technical expertise across multiple technology domains, with specialization in networking while maintaining working knowledge of supporting systems and infrastructure.

 

THE DETAILS:

Network Infrastructure Design & Management

  • Design, implement, and manage enterprise network solutions, including routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, VPNs, SD-WAN, and hybrid cloud networking.
  • Plan and implement network segmentation, IoT connectivity, and network standardization initiatives.
  • Administer network access control solutions, such as Aruba ClearPass, and implement Zero Trust principles where applicable.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network performance and availability across global sites, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with regional IT teams to understand data communications, connectivity, and security requirements, providing backup coverage as needed.
  • Evaluate new networking technologies, conduct proofs of concept, and make strategic recommendations for future enterprise network architecture.

Systems & Infrastructure Support

  • Implement, configure, and support physical and virtual servers, operating systems, storage, and enterprise applications.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 and related cloud services, including user, group, and security management.
  • Maintain high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes for critical systems and network infrastructure.
  • Automate administrative and operational tasks using PowerShell, Python, or other relevant tools to improve efficiency and scalability.

Project Leadership

  • Lead or provide technical guidance for IT projects, from planning through execution, including network deployments, system upgrades, and global initiatives.
  • Develop project plans, track milestones, and coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and consultants.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership to ensure alignment with strategic goals, standards, and security policies.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Create, maintain, and review detailed network and system documentation, including diagrams, procedures, and configuration standards.
  • Develop and enforce policies and controls to ensure network security, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain capacity management metrics and proactively identify deficiencies in network or system performance.

Leadership & Mentoring

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert and provide mentoring, cross-training, and skill development for team members.
  • Recommend solutions to improve IT operations, network performance, and infrastructure resilience.
  • Support a collaborative, global team environment and foster knowledge sharing across regions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • 5–7+ years of hands-on network engineering experience in enterprise environments
  • Strong expertise with routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, wireless, and hybrid cloud networking
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Palo Alto, or similar networking platforms.
  • Familiarity with SD-WAN/SASE, Zero Trust networking, and cloud connectivity (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Experience with enterprise servers, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), storage (SAN/NAS), and Microsoft 365 administration
  • Scripting/automation experience (PowerShell, Python, or equivalent).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
  • Relevant certifications highly desirable: CCNP/CCIE, Aruba Certified, VMware VCP, Microsoft, or cloud networking certifications

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND AVAILABILITY:

  • Onsite presence required in Portland for core team collaboration; flexibility for early/late hours to support global operations
  • Availability for on-call coverage for critical network or system issues, including EMEA support
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required

 

At Oregon Tool, we provide a reasonable, good-faith estimate of the compensation range for this role of $125,000 - $135,000. Final offers are based on various factors such as experience, skills, qualifications and internal equity. This range may vary based on geographic location where the position is filled, and most new hires are not typically hired at the top of the range.
