HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT: 
The Manufacturing Engineer will apply manufacturing engineering and project management skills to plan, coordinate, and implement cost effective manufacturing processes that integrate equipment and personnel for Oregon Tool’s Concrete Cutting & Fabrication products.   


THE DETAILS: 
Manufacturing Engineering Activities (75%) 

  • Support existing product lines
  • Develops proficiency in a range of processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience
  • Works within defined processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments
  • Completes work with a limited degree of supervision
  • May provide informal guidance and support to more junior Team Members
  • Provides solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or infrequently occurring based on existing precedents or procedures.  
  • Works on manufacturing process problems dealing with production equipment problems, low efficiencies, quality, and safety issues
  • Develops standard cost by operation
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement, creates and implements corrective actions to production issues
  • Interprets product, gauging, tooling, and production fixture prints
  • Obtain and maintain basic tools and gauges needed for the department
  • Work instruction and drawing creation
  • BOM/route maintenance
  • Project management - prepare project scope document and timelines, manage changes against project schedule, scope, and cost.

Product Design Engineering Activities (25%)

  • Works in collaboration with design team to implement new products or changes to existing products
  • Provides design for manufacturability (DFM) input to design team
  • Assists in identification and qualification of external suppliers
  • Ensures appropriate inspections are conducted to meet design requirements
  • Collects and structures data to inform disposition of non-conforming product
  • Identifies operational efficiency opportunities in products and processes
  • Experience with design of sheet metal parts, weldments, mechanical assemblies, structures, machinery, and hydraulic power transmission systems preferred

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:  

  • B.S. in Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • Preference given to B.S. in Mechanical, Industrial, and/or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 5 + years of relevant Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Experience with metal fabrication and/or machining a plus
  • Experience with welding (MIG & TIG) a plus
  • SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other CAD experience
  • Experience with mechanical systems and manufacturing building requirements with the ability to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.  
  • Experience in establishing proactive plans that support business needs and to gain, align, and coordinate resources to implement these plans to meet commitments.  
  • Experience with setting up manufacturing process quality plans.  Capable of prioritization to ensure that resources are used on highest value added initiatives.  
  • Demonstrated ability to apply statistical methods to analysis and process monitoring.  
  • Demonstrated innovative problem solving.  
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to express oneself clearly
  • Collaborative and effective team player and able to work with teams who are globally dispersed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and data management software (SAP preferred)
  • Available to work on site as required by job; eligible for domestic and international travel several times per year up to two weeks’ duration.

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Washington, Colorado, Nevada, California, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, Oregon Tool is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Oregon Tool, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $82,000 to $90,000.
